Cheers to the weekend, y’all! It has been a great week! I want to say thank you to each of you that reached out and wished me a happy birthday whether it was on social media, a text, or a call. I tend to be a little bit of a Scrooge on my birthday just because time is flying by so quickly, but hearing from friends- old and new, really just breathes fresh new air into my life and perspective as I prepare to take on another year. This year is even more special to me because it’s the last one of my twenties! Anyone else have a bucket list of things to do before 30? If you have any ideas holla at me because I have a short list of my own and I would love to add to it!
Wednesday was my birthday and as that’s my typical day of the week to teach spin, I was thrilled to have that to look forward to! I had to work my day job a for a little bit, but finished up in the early afternoon and decided I wanted to splurge and have me some Chick fil A for lunch. No regrets about that, ever! After eating ,I came home and checked that everything was ready for the night’s playlist and took a quick power nap. Napped on my birthday and lovedddd it #Thisis29 Ha!
I got to the studio shortly after 5:00 before my 5:30 class and one of my besties, Caroline, was there decorating with all things festive and “Happy Birthday” decor! I was surprised to see this, although I shouldn’t have been. She’s so good with thoughtful acts of kindness and loves to celebrate all the holidays all the time! She brought a big “Happy Birthday” Banner, balloons, and a party hat. I put the hat on for the sake of photos but no way was I going to be able to ride and wear it! This little surprise set up was the “icing on the cake” of my day. I had put together a rather intense-but-fun playlist for the occasion as well! Here’s the run down:
“I Gotta Feelings”- The Black Eyed Peas– warm up with a lot of choreography light-mod resistance
“Birthday-Cash Cash Remix”- Katy Perry- fast jumps light resistance
“Wake me Up”- Avicii- choreography and Sprints light resistance
“Sweet Sensation”- Flo Rida- Arms
“Filthy”- Justin Timberlake-interval jogs and tap backs light resistance
“We Can’t Stop”- Miley Cyrus- Climb with building resistance
“Don’t Stop Believing”- Journey- Weighted sprints heavy resistance
“Levels”- Avicii- Arms
“2 Step”- Unk- Jog with choreography, light resistance
“The Time (Dirty Bit)”- The Black Eyed Peas- fast jumps light resistance
“The Heat (I wanna with Somebody)”- Ralph Felix- Sprints light resistance
“Don’t Stop Believing”- Anthem Lights- Cool Down
This playlist had the fewest number of songs on it that I have ever made for a class just because all of the songs were so lengthy! I like that though, when you have multiple sets of reps of the same thing within one song. The riders have more chance to master whatever it is we are doing in that song. As you can see, I basically went with a theme of celebratory tunes with a little B-day and throwback in the mix. It was a fun, fast, and sweaty class! I was pleased with my cal burn from each, but only remembered to photograph the first round.
Another big thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway for the $100 shop card! The winner was drawn this morning and announced on my Instagram story! I had such good feedback with this giveaway it has sparked a fire to figure out what I should do for the next one. Stick around because you have as good of a chance as anyone to win if you enter! Thanks so much for reading today and for making this week so special. Love to you all!
