#PowerofShe International Women’s Day Cycle event with Zenstudio + Athleta

Thursday, March 8th, was International Women’s Day and to celebrate I teamed up with Zenstudio and Athleta for a female empowering #PowerofShe free community cycle class. The event was hosted at the Zenstudio Chenal location at 7 pm and Athleta brought a table with apparel samples, snacks, party favors, and a raffle drawing. I am always one to dress along with a theme and for this occasion I chose to wear my GRL PWR Tank from The Shop Forward. They are a website built around selling apparel in an effort to donate proceeds to charitable foundations. To cap off my attempt at really looking badass for this ride, I wore my new camo Contender Legging from Athleta. This was my first time riding in these leggings and despite them being more mid-rise than high-rise as I typically prefer, they were very supportive and I didn’t have to adjust them at any time during the class.

I was so excited leading up to this event just because I knew it would be a moment that we could all share in and appreciate the complexity, determination, fierceness, and grace that characterizes the female gender. I believe this is something we should celebrate each day, but with the busy hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to lose perspective of just how incredible we all are as women. To facilitate this mindset, I made my playlist full of female empowering songs. Since this was a community event and we had several first-time riders, I kept the choreography simple, but the pace was fast and we certainly moved a lot. My Apple watch ran a little overtime as the class was 50 minutes and I didn’t end the workout until 1:08, but at that time my total calorie burn was 498. The playlist and layout for the ride is below:

Man! I feel like a Woman- Shania Twain; warm-up jog/choreography

Scars to your Beautiful- Alessia Cara; jog intervals

Sit Still, Look Pretty- Daya; jumps

Love Myself- Hailee Steinfield; sprint

Confident- Demi Lovato; arms

Bang Bang- Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj; jog/choreography

Girl On Fire-Alicia Keys; climb

Bitch- Meredith Brooks; weighted sprint

You Gotta Be MARC REMIX- Kiera Weathers, MARC; arms

Roar- Katy Perry; jog/choreography

Worth It- Fifth Harmony, Kid Ink; jumps

Run the World (Girls) Kaskade Remix- Beyonce, Kaskade; sprints

Rise- Katy Perry; cool down

Female- Keith Urban; cool down

The energy during this ride was amazing! Everyone in class really gave a strong effort and people even whooped and clapped during and after some of the songs. Athleta provided glow sticks for all of the riders to wear around their wrist and they gave me a light up wand that was a total game changer. Our studio manager, Katelyn, referred to it as my spirit stick and I loved that description! I may have to invest in getting one for myself for all of my classes going forward, it was so much fun!

After class, we kept the party going and popped some celebratory champagne as we mingled in the lobby. I had the idea to ask some of the class participants to write down their affirmations and I snapped their photo as they held them up. It was inspiring just to see what inspires them. Athleta provided two $25 shop cards and drew the lucky winners from a raffle, then we snapped a few more group photos before everyone headed out. After cleaning up the lobby, Athleta co-manager, Evelyn, and I walked down to the Mexican restaurant nearby for dinner because #balance. This event and this day were so special and I had a blast celebrating the power within us, the strength between us, and most of all the love surrounding us as women!
